- We’re hiring a founding Head Chef, someone who doesn’t just cook, but leads, innovates, and creates lasting experiences on every plate.
Job Overview
- As the first Head Chef of Krush, you’ll be responsible for setting up and leading the kitchen from scratch. This includes menu creation, team building, inventory planning, kitchen systems setup, and delivering outstanding meals focused on continental cuisine with a tasteful Nigerian flair.
- You will be the heart of the kitchen, the person who defines the Krush food story.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and lead the kitchen team from scratch (including hiring, training, and mentoring).
- Develop a unique, high-quality menu blending continental dishes with Nigerian elements.
- Oversee all food preparation, cooking, plating, and service flow.
- Set up kitchen SOPs, hygiene protocols, and inventory systems.
- Work with management on kitchen layout, equipment needs, and food supply chains.
- Ensure consistency in flavor, presentation, and portion control.
- Conduct regular tastings, performance checks, and team reviews.Maintain cleanliness, safety, and high culinary standards at all times.
- Innovate and update menu items in line with seasonal trends and guest preferences.
- Represent Krush as a culinary leader in Awka and help drive our reputation.

Requirements
- Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree or HND with a minimum of 5 years of experience as a professional chef (with at least 2 in a senior role).
- Expertise in continental cuisine, with an ability to infuse local Nigerian flavors.
- Experience working in new or startup restaurants is a major plus.
- Strong leadership, kitchen management, and team-building skills.
- Good understanding of kitchen systems, food costing, inventory control, and budgeting.
- Passion for food innovation, plating aesthetics, and storytelling through meals.
- Reliable, organized, and ready to take ownership of a new culinary vision.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a calm and motivating presence.
