About the Role
As a leader in the WASH sector in Nigeria, WaterAid is seeking a WASH Consultant (Civil / Infrastructure Engineer) to support the design, delivery, and management of donor-funded projects.
The consultant will play a pivotal role in construction, operation, and maintenance of facilities while supporting advocacy efforts at state and LGA levels. The role also requires aligning field-level programming with sector strengthening initiatives, ensuring that innovations and evidence from WaterAid’s projects inform policies and strategies nationally.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver key components of WaterAid’s project objectives, including construction and infrastructure support.

Oversee borehole drilling, water supply systems, and sanitation infrastructure.

Support evidence-based advocacy to improve access to WASH in Nigeria.

Ensure alignment of fieldwork with sector strengthening agenda.

Provide technical expertise in project design, implementation strategies, monitoring, and evaluation.

Prepare and manage project budgets, plans, and reports.

Requisite Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (specialization in Water Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or Environmental Engineering).

Master’s Degree in Water Resource Management, Civil Engineering, or Environmental Management (an added advantage).

Minimum of 7 years’ experience, with at least 5 years in WASH programme/project management.

Strong technical knowledge of water supply systems, sanitation infrastructure, and borehole drilling.

Proven experience managing infrastructure projects in the development sector.

Excellent project management, budgeting, planning, and reporting skills.

Strong monitoring and evaluation capabilities.
