About the Role

As a leader in the WASH sector in Nigeria, WaterAid is seeking a WASH Consultant (Civil / Infrastructure Engineer) to support the design, delivery, and management of donor-funded projects.

The consultant will play a pivotal role in construction, operation, and maintenance of facilities while supporting advocacy efforts at state and LGA levels. The role also requires aligning field-level programming with sector strengthening initiatives, ensuring that innovations and evidence from WaterAid’s projects inform policies and strategies nationally.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver key components of WaterAid’s project objectives, including construction and infrastructure support.

  • Oversee borehole drilling, water supply systems, and sanitation infrastructure.

  • Support evidence-based advocacy to improve access to WASH in Nigeria.

  • Ensure alignment of fieldwork with sector strengthening agenda.

  • Provide technical expertise in project design, implementation strategies, monitoring, and evaluation.

  • Prepare and manage project budgets, plans, and reports.

Requisite Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (specialization in Water Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or Environmental Engineering).

  • Master’s Degree in Water Resource Management, Civil Engineering, or Environmental Management (an added advantage).

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience, with at least 5 years in WASH programme/project management.

  • Strong technical knowledge of water supply systems, sanitation infrastructure, and borehole drilling.

  • Proven experience managing infrastructure projects in the development sector.

  • Excellent project management, budgeting, planning, and reporting skills.

  • Strong monitoring and evaluation capabilities.
