Role Overview

The Services Head – Nigeria & Ghana will lead Citi’s Services strategy, execution, and market share growth across the two countries. Reporting to the Sub-Saharan Africa Head of Services and sitting on the SSA Services Executive Committee, the role involves cultivating strong client, regulatory, and stakeholder relationships while ensuring operational excellence, risk management, and innovation.

This is a highly visible senior leadership role requiring extensive expertise in banking operations, client engagement, and strategic execution.


Key Responsibilities

Market Growth & Business Strategy

  • Drive expansion of Services’ market share in Nigeria & Ghana, aligned with global strategy.

  • Develop and execute strategy for branch, people, products, and technology roadmap.

Client Engagement

  • Build and nurture relationships with key corporate, financial institution, and public sector clients.

  • Collaborate with global product peers to align solutions with client needs.

Financial & Operational Performance

  • Manage client revenue growth, profitability, KPIs, and business performance.

  • Hold partners and internal functions accountable for delivery.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with local governance and regulatory frameworks.

  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Audit, and Finance to maintain robust oversight.

Talent & Culture

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing, inclusive, and ethical team.

  • Oversee staff development, succession planning, and performance management.

Innovation & Transformation

  • Champion digitization and new technologies to enhance efficiency and client experience.

  • Foster a culture of innovation within the Nigeria & Ghana Services business.

Market & Regulatory Advocacy

  • Represent Citi with regulatory bodies and industry stakeholders.

  • Shape strategies to influence regulatory outcomes in Nigeria and Ghana.


Requirements

Education & Qualifications:

  • First Degree in any discipline (relevant higher degree/professional qualification required).

  • Minimum of 15 years post-graduation experience, with at least 12 years in the banking industry.

  • Minimum of 2 years in VP/Deputy GM capacity or equivalent senior leadership role.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Proven expertise across at least three major areas of banking operations.

  • Deep knowledge of Services products: Payments, Liquidity Management, Trade & Working Capital, Investor Services, Issuer Services.

  • Strong track record in both CCPS (Corporate, Commercial & Public Sector) and FI (Financial Institutions) segments.

  • Experience in building and sustaining strategic client and vendor relationships.

  • In-depth understanding of regulatory environments in Nigeria & Ghana.
