Role Overview

The Human Resources Specialist will oversee and execute HR functions across the farm’s operations. This role includes policy development, recruitment, employee engagement, training, compliance, and culture-building initiatives. The successful candidate will ensure Sagad Farms maintains a productive, inclusive, and compliant workplace, while fostering employee growth and organizational success.


Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Talent Management

  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract skilled talent across farming, operations, and corporate roles.

  • Lead onboarding processes to ensure smooth integration of new employees.

  • Build structured career pathways and employee development plans.

Employee Relations & Engagement

  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for employee concerns, grievance handling, and conflict resolution.

  • Drive programs that empower women and promote gender equity across farm operations.

Training & Development

  • Assess skill gaps and design training programs for staff at all levels.

  • Partner with trainers, institutions, and external experts for workforce upskilling.

  • Lead leadership and capacity-building initiatives to strengthen internal talent pipelines.

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Nigerian labor laws and internal HR policies.

  • Manage contracts, leave administration, payroll support, and performance evaluation processes.

  • Maintain accurate HR records and generate reports/metrics for management.

Culture & Organizational Development

  • Champion Sagad Farms’ mission, vision, and values in workplace practices.

  • Lead diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, particularly increasing women’s participation in agriculture and leadership roles.

  • Support change management strategies as the company scales its operations.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ HR experience (preferably in agribusiness, FMCG, or manufacturing).

  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian labor law and HR best practices.

  • Proven track record in recruitment, employee relations, and performance management.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to align people needs with organizational goals.
