Job Description

Customs Clearance & Documentation:

  • Prepare, process, and follow up on import/export documentation including Form M, Bill of Lading, invoice, and packing list.
  • Liaise with customs officials, shipping companies, and regulatory agencies to facilitate clearance.
  • Ensure proper tariff classification and valuation of goods in line with customs regulations.
  • Track shipments to ensure timely release and avoid demurrage.

Coordination & Logistics Management:

  • Coordinate with freight forwarders, clearing agents, and transporters for smooth cargo movement.
  • Follow up with suppliers, shipping lines, and transporters to ensure prompt dispatch and delivery.
  • Maintain communication with internal departments (Procurement, Finance, Warehouse) for shipment updates.
  • Monitor shipment timelines, delivery schedules, and ensure goods reach destination without delays.

Compliance & Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with all import/export laws and company policies.
  • Keep updated with changes in customs and import/export regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of shipments, documentation, and payments.
  • Prepare periodic reports on import/export activities, costs, and timelines.

Cost Control:

  • Negotiate competitive rates with clearing agents and logistics providers.
  • Monitor demurrage, storage, and transport costs to ensure cost efficiency.
  • Verify and process clearing and forwarding invoices for payment.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related fields
  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience in clearing and forwarding or logistics operations.
  • Strong knowledge of customs procedures, import/export documentation, and shipping processes.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and relevant logistics software.
