The Opportunity
- Join Orodata Science as a remote, full-time Data Science Intern. You will contribute directly to projects that affect millions of lives. This role offers hands-on experience in civic tech data.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables
Data Management:
- Collect, preprocess, and clean civic and project datasets.
- Ensure data integrity for analysis and publications.
- Tools: Python (Pandas, NumPy), Excel, Google Sheets, SQL.
Analysis & Visualization:
- Perform Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) on national reports.
- Identify patterns, trends, and key insights.
- Create compelling data visualizations.
- Present data-driven findings.
- Tools: Power BI, Python (Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly).
Research & Reporting:
- Assist with literature reviews.
- Contribute to data-driven reports and policy insights.
- Support policy recommendations and stakeholder engagement.
- Tools: Google, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Tool Development (Optional but Valued):
- Contribute to building or enhancing data tools.
- Document development processes.
- Tools: Python (Flask, Streamlit), SQL, Power Apps, GitHub.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Support team presentations and workshops.
- Assist with external reporting.
- Tools: Microsoft PowerPoint, Canva, Google Slides, Slack.
Continuous Learning:
- Stay updated on data science and civic tech trends.
- Propose innovative data solutions.
- Effectively use AI for enhanced productivity (e.g., ChatGPT).
- Resources: Coursera, Kaggle, DataCamp, YouTube, industry blogs.
Educational Background:
- Pursuing a Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- We seek an individual with 1-2 years of relevant experience.
Core Skills:
- Strong analytical and statistical abilities.
- Proficiency in data science and data analytics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Clear communication and collaboration abilities.
- Basic programming knowledge (Python or R preferred).
- Tool Proficiency: Familiarity with the tools listed under Key Responsibilities.
