Job Description
- We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Legal Officer with strong real estate experience to manage legal matters relating to land acquisition, property documentation, contracts, and regulatory compliance.
- The successful candidate will ensure that all property transactions and company operations comply with applicable laws while minimizing legal risks.
Responsibilities
- Handle all legal matters relating to land acquisition, property transactions, and real estate development.
- Conduct due diligence on land and property documents, including C of O, Deed of Assignment, Survey Plans, and Governor’s Consent.
- Draft, review, and vet contracts, agreements, MOUs, leases, and sale documents.
- Liaise with government agencies (Lands Registry, Surveyor General’s Office, Local Authorities) for property documentation and approvals.
- Provide legal advice on land ownership, boundary issues, and title verification.
- Ensure compliance with real estate laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Manage property-related disputes, litigation, and settlement negotiations.
- Maintain proper legal records and documentation for all company properties.
- Support management with legal opinions on real estate investments and transactions.
- Represent the company in meetings, negotiations, and court proceedings when required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B); BL qualification and Call to Bar is mandatory.
- Minimum of 3 – 5 years post-call experience, with a strong focus on real estate/property law.
- In-depth knowledge of Nigerian land laws, property regulations, and conveyancing processes.
- Proven experience handling land titles, property documentation, and due diligence.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and risk assessment abilities.
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills. Added Advantage
- Experience working with real estate developers or construction firms.
- Knowledge of land use charge, property tax, and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to handle multiple transactions and tight deadlines efficiently.
Salary & Benefits
- Salary: N250,000 – 500,000 monthly.
