WaterAid started its operation in Nigeria in 1995. Since then it has successfully executed several intervention programmes as outlined by its objectives and has made impact in the lives of the very poor. WaterAid with the country office in Abuja currently works in Bauchi, Enugu and Plateau States with funding from various donors and partners.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Finance Support Consultant
Location: Abuja
Employment Type: Contract
Duration: 5 Months
Reports to: Head of Finance and IT
Travels: At least 25%-time travel to support WaterAid state offices staff and Partners
Job Summary
- The Finance & IT department provides leadership and support for financial management and IT across WaterAid Nigeria.
Job purpose
- The Finance & IT Department provides leadership and support for financial management and information technology solutions across WaterAid Nigeria. The Finance Support Consultant plays a supportive role to the Finance Team in addressing identified gaps and to address workload challenge that would come with the exit of the FIT Intern.
Accountabilities
- Prepare schedules and handle monthly remittance of all statutory deductions (PAYE, PENSION, NHF, NSITF and WHT).
- Handle the reconciliation of Staff National Housing Fund (NHF) contribution and updating of Staff NHF records with the regulatory authority.
- Support in management and keeping of accounting records, files and other documentation.
- Support preparing monthly Partner compliance report.
- Induction and direct support for onboarding of the new FIT Intern
Essential Criteria
- A bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma in Accounting
- Minimum of two years’ post NYSC work experience in Accounting / Finance related role.
- Previous experience in managing and supporting staff / partner organisations working on donor funded project.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong research and report writing skills an advantage.
- Strong organizational and time management skills. Driven to meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills. Able to build relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, negotiate and influence across teams in order to achieve the best outcome.
- Proactive approach. Identifies issues and challenges, and flags these with relevant colleagues so they are resolved in a timely manner.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy in information processing, including compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, and verifying data.
