Job Title: Legal Officer
Location: Victoria Island, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Purpose
- Work to ensure the highest level of corporate governance within the Group, whilst providing quality legal solutions to minimize business risks, exposure and interruption.
Responsibilities
- Draft and finalise agreements, contracts, MoUs, SLAs and other legal documents to ensure the company’s full legal rights are preserved.
- Device efficient strategy to always nip in the bud, matters that could lead to litigation.
- Focus on the commercial business and legal support to ensure that the business has good and solid relationships with all external stakeholders including but not limited to customers, suppliers, partners etc. This will include negotiation and finalisation of all agreements, providing advice on consumer, competition, labour and all other commercial law.
- Develop and review internal governance policies and regularly monitor compliance
- Attend to complex matters with multiple stakeholders and forces.
- Seek, Obtain and Provide in-depth legal opinions and clarification on various issues affecting the business.
- Draft and review legal correspondence.
- Research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations
- Attend to and monitor all pending litigations and proceedings involving the Company.
- Attend to and monitor all pending law enforcement matters involving the Group and its subsidiaries.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of the Legal function.
- Conduct your work with integrity and responsibility
- Maintain current knowledge of amendments in legislation
Requirements
- Education: LLB and B.L degree. An MBA will be an added advantage.
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience.
Technical:
- Knowledge of corporate and commercial law is essential
- Good grasp of relevant laws and hands-on interpretation and application of company secretarial issues.
- Experience being a team lead in a corporate environment
- Experience interfacing with law enforcement agency
- Excellent communication, research, presentation, and analytical skills.
- Proven ability to determine priorities, cope with high volumes of work, plan and organize workloads, set targets, meet deadlines, and achieve high standard results.
