Job Title: Group Head, Internal Audit and Control

Role Description

  • This is a full-time hybrid role for a Group Head, Internal Audit and Control located in Lagos with some work from home flexibility.
  • Responsible for communicating risk policies and processes for the organisation by providing hands-on development of risk models involving market, credit and operational risk, assure controls are operating effectively, and provide research and analytical support.
  • The candidate also be responsible to ensure strong internal control environment through the development of policies and procedures.

Principal Functions (Major Areas of Responsibility)

  • Support business performance through the implementation of an effective ERM framework that focuses on strategic objectives and drives value for the group.
  • Facilitate the development of a “risk aware” culture across Nosak Group, through the deployment of robust risk management education programs
  • Participate in the annual Business planning sessions to identify and assess risks that may impact Group business objectives
  • Ensure robust stakeholder engagement by organising periodic risk management sessions across all business unit
  • Compile clear, accurate and timely risk reports for Executive management and the Board as required.
  • Advise business areas on technical elements of risk management which involves risk identification, assessment, mitigation planning, monitoring, triggers/responses, evaluation, and reporting across all business Units
  • Assess processes and strategies in place to mitigate risks, identify new ways to further enhance the risk mitigation plans and improve the overall risk return profile
  • Develop, implement and maintain internal audit policies and procedures in accordance with local and international best practice
  • Compile and implement the annual Internal Audit plan
  • Own the design, implementation, documentation, assessment and monitoring the internal control framework, including group policies and key risks to ensure that the company has adequate controls to prevent unintentional and intentional errors in financial reporting, processes, and business operations.
  • Formulate policies and procedures to improve internal controls, compliance, and efficiency
  • Work collaboratively with business and process owners to implement and monitor remediation efforts that result from internal control assessments, ensuring the effective implementation of corrective action.
  • Actively seek standardization and automation, apply, and implement best practices for managing internal controls and deploy innovative technology where possible to enhance and continuously improve the design and operating effectiveness of the controls, documentation, assessment, and review procedures
  • Actively engage with internal and external auditors to ensure consideration and resolution of all relevant risks and audit findings
  • Develop and conduct adequate training and prepare related information material on the internal control objectives, approach, and methodology to business partners on a regular basis to build knowledge and understanding of risks and control

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Finance, or Accounting, or Business Administration, or related field.
  • Must have functioned up to 5 years as Manager in Internal Audit and Control roles
  • 10+ years of full-time experience in external audit, compliance, internal controls and Enterprise Risk Management with a Big Organisations especially banks and FMCGs.
  • Strong knowledge of risk and controls standards, enterprise risk management and business process best practices.
  • 5 years of fraud auditing experience
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting and understanding of IFRS.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, including written and verbal communication, especially in developing positions / preparing reports and presentations for Nosak group Senior Management.
  • Good stakeholder Engagement skills
  • Good Inspirational Leadership skills.
