Specific Duties and Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be required to perform the following duties, among others, in the Finance Division:

  • Prepare and monitor annual budgets.
  • Conduct financial and cost analysis.
  • Prepare reports for Council meetings.
  • Prepare financial statements in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Supervise all Accounts staff in his/her office.
  • Oversee the input and management of financial data and reports for the Council.
  • Analyse revenue and expenditure trends and recommend appropriate budgetary controls.
  • Advise on cost reduction strategies and cash flow improvement.
  • Liaise with Internal and External Auditors during audit exercises.
  • Serve as a statutory member of the designated Management Committees.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Office.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must:

  • Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or any other related course of study with at least Second Class Lower Division.
  • Have at least three (3) years post-NYSC professional experience.
  • Be an Associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) or Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA UK)/ Institute of Chartered Accountants, UK (ACA); Be able to use at least one Accounting Package.

General Requirements

  • Candidates must be able to use personal computers, office software packages and have knowledge of web-based systems;
  • They must be self-motivated and able to write good reports, analyse and review research reports.
  • They must be able to work extra hours with little or no supervision.
  • They must be a team player with good inter-personal skills and be open and able to lead change; possess influencing, analytical and communication skills.
  • They must be an organiser/planner with the ability to be flexible and be able to successfully implement ideas.
  • Note: All Applicants must possess five (5) credits in WASSCE / SSCE / GCE ‘O’ Level, including English Language and Mathematics at a sitting, or six (6) credits including English Language and Mathematics at not more than two (2) sittings.
  • Applicants should not be more than forty (40) years of age as at the close of the advertisement.
  • They must have also undergone the mandatory one (1) year National Youth Service.
