  3. MCC Defects Control Engineer

1. Cabin Technician

Role Description

  • To assign and carry out Removal, disassembly, cleaning, inspecting, repairing, and reinstalling as needed of aircraft cabin furnishings and equipment such as galleys, lavatories, seats, overhead compartments, panels, and carpeting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Able to read and understand engineering documents and aircraft manuals. Has general knowledge of tools.
  • Opens and closes areas on the aircraft which are required to be opened for inspection.
  • Work performed must meet NCAA and customer standards.
  • Follows standards of behavior and appearance for all staff members.
  • Asks questions as necessary to increase knowledge or skill.
  • Maintains her or his work area in an orderly and clean manner.
  • Cleans and removes any foreign objects generated during the course of effecting repairs.
  • Records her or his time worked as directed by her or his supervisor.
  • Complies with all safety procedures at all times, without exception.
  • Complies with the standard operating procedure of the company.
  • Keeps her or himself informed of such policies and procedures and asks her or his supervisor for explanations of anything which she or he does not fully understand.
  • Takes those prudent actions appropriate to the preservation of company and/or customer assets, whether in monetary or another form.
  •  Attends work-related training as scheduled.
  •  All other duties as assigned.
  • Repairs, adjusts, and installs aircraft seats.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Seats and furnishings defects rectified within set timelines.
  • Quality of Cabin Maintenance
  • Number of incidents/accidents
  • Optimal material and resource usage

Knowledge, Skills, Experience

  • Aircraft Maintenance Diploma
  • Minimum 2 years experience working in aircraft cabins,
  • Vendor Training on either Aircraft Seats/GaIIey equipment’s/Cabin systems, is an added advantage
  • Basic License (Bl/B2) is an added advantage.
  • Good knowledge of aircraft Cabin systems. Good Knowledge of Aviation Legislation/ Regulations. required.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and MRO systems is required.
  • Good Knowledge of Industrial Safety Standards Human factors knowledge

2. Inflight Entertainment Engineer

Role Description

  • To plan, execute, and certify inspections, repairs, replacements, modifications, installations, and software/content updates for aircraft Inflight Entertainment (IFE) systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, company standards, and OEM specifications.
  • The role also involves supervising technicians, managing documentation, liaising with vendors/OEMs, and driving continuous improvement to maximize IFE system availability and passenger satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Repair:

  • Plan, assign, and carry out inspections, fault isolation, troubleshooting, repair, replacement, and modification tasks on aircraft IFE systems.
  • Rectify and certify IFE defects within the limitations of company and regulatory approvals.
  • Perform software/content uploads, system configuration, and version control in line with OEM and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilize Built-In Test Equipment (BITE) data to diagnose and resolve faults.

Installation & Modification:

  • Support installation or retrofit of IFE systems, including wiring, equipment mounting, and integration tasks.
  • Coordinate with OEMs and vendors during installation, modification, and upgrade projects.

Documentation & Compliance:

  • Develop, review, and revise engineering documents such as task cards,
  • AMM/IPC references, CMM updates, and modification work packs.
  • Maintain accurate aircraft records and ensure all maintenance actions are documented and signed off.
  • Monitor and implement applicable Service Bulletins (SBs),
  • Airworthiness Directives (ADs), and other mandatory requirements.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with NCAA, EASA, FAA, and company regulations.
  • Supervision & Resource Management
  • Allocate daily work to technicians and monitor progress to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Identify and requisition required IFE spare parts, tools, and consumables.
  • Train, mentor, and develop technicians to improve competency and troubleshooting skills.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify reliability trends and propose corrective/preventive actions.
  • Recommend procedural and technical improvements for system
  • performance and maintenance efficiency.
  • Liaise with internal departments, OEMs, and vendors to address
  • persistent issues and support product enhancement.

Safety & Reporting:

  • Promote a safe working environment in compliance with company
  • Safety Management System (SMS) policies.
  • Report all incidents, accidents, and near-misses in accordance with company reporting procedures.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • 95% IFE system availability fleet-wide.
  • All IFE defects rectified within agreed turnaround times.
  • First-time fix rate above target threshold.
  • Closure of passenger-related IFE reports (OT Is) within 72 hours.
  • Zero regulatory findings in IFE-related audits.
  • Reduction in repetitive IFE defects through trend analysis and preventive actions.
  • On-time and accurate completion of maintenance records.

Requirements
Education & Certification:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical / Electronic, Avionics, Aerospace, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Vendor training on specific aircraft IFE systems (e.g., Panasonic, Thales, Safran, Collins) is required.
  • Basic Aircraft Maintenance License (Bl/B2) or equivalent is an added advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of aircraft maintenance experience, with at least 3 years in IFE maintenance or engineering.
  • Experience in both line and base maintenance environments, including IFE installations and retrofits.

Soft Skills:

  • Leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and vendor liaison skills.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving mindset.
  • Customer service orientation with focus on passenger experience.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of IFE systems architecture, hardware, and software integration.
  • Ability to interpret and apply AMM, IPC, CMM, SBs, and ADs.
  • Proficiency with MRO software systems (e.g., TRAX, AMOS) and common office applications.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements (NCAA, EASA, FAA) and industrial safety standards.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and fault isolation skills, including use of
  • BITE tools and test equipment.

3. MCC Defects Control Engineer

Job Description

  • To keep a constant control and follow up of aircraft opened and recurrent defects and generate the required maintenance actions request to maintain it to a minimum level and ensure a high Technical Dispatch Reliability of APL fleet.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control APL fleet open and repetitive defects performing a depth analysis of all available data on Maintenance Software, Tech log Pages and verbal information from flight and maintenance crews and generate work orders with proper trouble Shooting recommendations avoiding repetition of maintenance actions and unnecessary components removal.
  • Assist MCC Duty Engineer and Line Maintenance Team to analyze significant
  • AOG events and complex defects and provide technical recommendations that allows a safe and fast recovery of the aircraft.
  • Constantly monitor Aircraft Health Monitoring software AHEAD-PRO for Embraer E195-E2 Fleet and AHM for Boeing B777 Fleet and advise Line maintenance teams for the necessary maintenance actions on the critical faults that can have a direct impact on the technical serviceability of the respective fleet.
  • Control and analysis of current and historical CMC/FHDB faults to generate MCC Work Orders for it’s T/S and correction, avoiding these faults becomes critical and can affect aircraft serviceability
  • Closely monitor APL fleet Technical delays and maintenance events to generate action plans that prevents its repetition and thus increase technical dispatch reliability.
  • Perform analysis of MEL critical Items (CAT A, B and C) specially those with operational limitations and provide T/S recommendations to line maintenance team.
  • Provide to APL Technical Services department all available T/S information including performed maintenance actions to request additional recommendations from OEMs when initial trouble shooting steps have been exhausted.
  • Generate and send a Weekly Repetitive Defects Report to APL Engineering and
  • Maintenance Management, Line Maintenance Team and CAMO Department.
  • Support MCC On Duty Engineer when required due to rotations, training and others assignments.
  • Comply with APL Safety, Health and Policy and Standard Procedures.
  • Assist Quality department during investigation of maintenance related issues.
  • Provide on-the-job training to other MCC team members with less experience that allows them understand the principles and procedures of MCC Department.
  • Perform other tasks that may be reasonably assigned by her/his manager.

Key Performance Indicator

  • Aircraft availability.
  • Dispatch Reliability.
  • Timely resolution of Repeat Defects.
  • .Minimize RTG and AOGs.
  • Timely AOG Recovery.

Knowledge, Skills experience

  • Holds an Engineering Diploma or University Degree from a recognized institution.
  • At least 9 years full time aircraft maintenance experience.
  • At least 4 years in the role of a MCC Engineer 2.
  • Holds Full NCAA basic License A&P/Avionics or equivalent.
  • Full Approval on two APL Aircraft Type
  • Attended relevant Induction, Health and Safety and equipment training.
  • Current in all mandatory trainings.

Competencies:

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Analytical thinking.
  • Ability to constantly monitor Aircraft Health Monitoring Software for APL fleet and Advice Line Engineers on the critical faults that can have a direct impact on the technical serviceability of the fleet
  • Has demonstrated experience of having worked with and through others to resolve complex maintenance tasks.
  • Excellent knowledge on complex /repeat defects. Lead team to resolve critical system defects and other escalated issues in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate and conduct operational meetings..
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve operational issues relating to staff, escalations, and deviations.
