About the Role
The Area Technical Officer is responsible for coordinating, managing, and supporting network operations across the zone to ensure:

Optimal network availability and coverage.

Achievement of target network KPIs.
-
Seamless customer experience through proactive resolution of network issues.
The role also provides technical support to Sales and Marketing teams within the zone.
Key Responsibilities
Network Operations & Maintenance
-
Manage day-to-day activities of all Zonal Network Operations & Maintenance Strategic Partners (SPs).

Track and ensure delivery of network availability, QoS, and KPIs.
-
Oversee corrective and preventive measures for worst-performing sites/cells.
-
Ensure IBS sites (non-TowerCo) have sufficient power availability.

Conduct periodic audits of transmission, core, and radio networks.
Customer Experience & Performance Monitoring

Provide technical support to resolve customer issues within KPIs.

Monitor special events and ensure best-in-class service delivery.
-
Perform weekly analysis of customer complaints and drive improvements.
-
Ensure community/security issues do not hinder site closure.
Partner & Vendor Management

Manage SPs and Colo Partners to ensure SLA compliance.
-
Audit and support zonal spares management for critical and non-critical parts.
-
Provide necessary support from central and local teams to zonal SPs.
Financial & Regulatory Oversight

Prepare and manage zonal Operating Plans (OPEX/AOPs) for active and passive systems.

Drive expenditure optimization and savings initiatives.
-
Ensure adherence to regulatory and compliance standards.
Process Management

Document and implement processes, procedures, and policies for operational efficiency.

Develop SLA measurement systems to track, reward, and penalize SPs.
-
Ensure maintenance standards meet global best practices.
Qualifications
Education:
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Telecoms Engineering.

Master’s Degree in Engineering is an added advantage.
Experience & Skills:
-
5–10 years’ experience in telecom operations & maintenance.

3–5 years in managerial or supervisory roles within GSM/mobile networks.
-
Strong analytical, presentation, and negotiation skills.
-
Proven ability to manage outsourcing partners and deliver on SLAs.
-
Entrepreneurial mindset with sound decision-making and resource management skills.
-
Innovative thinker with focus on cost optimization, process improvement, and automation.

Strong leadership skills to motivate both internal teams and partners.
