Role Summary
- We are seeking a qualified and experienced Biomedical Engineer to join our healthcare operations team.
- The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of medical and laboratory equipment, ensuring that all systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with healthcare standards.
- This role is vital in supporting our mission to provide world-class healthcare services through effective biomedical technology management.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, calibrate, and maintain medical and laboratory equipment (e.g., analyzers, centrifuges, ventilators, and imaging systems).
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.
- Troubleshoot and repair biomedical systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Support procurement processes by evaluating equipment specifications and vendor proposals.
- Maintain accurate documentation of equipment performance, calibration, and maintenance logs.
- Train clinical and laboratory staff on safe equipment operation and maintenance.
- Participate in equipment commissioning, acceptance testing, and performance evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety standards (e.g. NAFDAC, ISO, WHO).
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Engineering, or Electrical / Electronic Engineering.
- 3 – 5 years of hands-on experience working with hospital and laboratory equipment.
- Strong knowledge of diagnostic and analytical systems (e.g., hematology analyzers, ECG, ventilators, ultrasound, infusion pumps).
- Experience working with OEM-certified systems (e.g. Mindray, Roche, Abbott, Siemens) is an advantage.
- Certification or training in Quality Management Systems (ISO 13485 or ISO 15189) is desirable.
Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Good knowledge of hospital/laboratory safety and calibration procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and within cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in documentation and reporting.
