Job Description

  • This position plays a pivotal role in the development of impactful and well-researched case studies that serve multiple strategic purposes. It contributes significantly to enriching the quality of classroom instruction by providing real-world business scenarios, supports faculty-led academic research through the provision of relevant and practical data, and fosters deeper collaboration and engagement between the institution and industry stakeholders.
  • By producing case studies that reflect current challenges and trends in the business environment, the role enhances both academic relevance and industry connectivity

Essential Duties / Key Job Roles And Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide professional writing expertise in developing cases and technical notes.
  • Deliver regular work-in-progress updates based on an agreed timeline.
  • Consult relevant standard references to ensure adherence to required quality standards for cases, making them publishable in targeted case publishing houses such as Harvard Case Publishing.
  • Conduct secondary research to properly position cases and ensure the inclusion of necessary questions in interview guides, particularly questions addressing non-public information.
  • Acquire necessary information about companies or protagonists for case writing.
  • Manage case production timelines and budgets.
  • Attend and administer interview questions with or without faculty when necessary.
  • Develop a teaching note for each case.
  • Attend and participate in feedback sessions with students and provide direct feedback to faculty to enhance the quality of cases.
  • Review cases, teaching notes, and technical notes written by faculty and provide input to improve quality and standards.
  • Ensure strict adherence to the case protocol and meet all quality requirements before a case or technical note is published.
  • Organise regular case writing seminars and workshops for faculty and research assistants.
  • Follow up with faculty writing cases to provide assistance on the best writing approaches and strategies.
  • Act as the custodian of the research code of conduct for case writing and ensure all authors comply before final approval for case publication.
  • Generate case leads and discuss them with subject expert faculty.
  • Maintain communication with case subject companies or protagonists when necessary.

  • Number of high-quality cases and technical notes developed and published.
  • Timeliness in the case and technical note development based on agreed deadlines.
  • Quality and relevance of research conducted for case writing.
  • Compliance with international standards for case writing.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with faculty members.
  • Successful organisation of case writing seminars and workshops.
  • Adherence to research and publication ethics.
  • Timely and constructive feedback provided to faculty on case drafts.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Basic Sciences, or a related discipline from a reputable institution.
  • Professional certifications in writing or business case writing are required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a business writing capacity.
