Position Summary

  • The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for the effective management of Barnksforte Group’s operational performance, strategic initiatives, and service delivery functions.
  • The COO will ensure the alignment of technology deployment, project execution, and operational excellence with the company’s overall strategic vision.
  • This role requires a highly organized, execution-focused leader with deep experience in technology operations, digital infrastructure management, and large-scale program implementation, particularly in digital identity systems and enterprise platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Business Execution:

  • Collaborate with the CEO and Executive Team to translate corporate vision into actionable operational and technology strategies.
  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficiency, productivity, and service excellence across all business units.
  • Drive the execution of strategic initiatives in digital identity systems, infrastructure development, and technology innovation.
  • Support the CEO in developing long-term growth strategies, business expansion plans, and performance improvement initiatives.

Operational Oversight:

  • Lead and coordinate the activities of the Operations, Project Management and Service Delivery to ensure projects are completed on schedule, within scope, and within budget.
  • Design and implement operational frameworks, policies, and SOPs that enhance cross-departmental efficiency.
  • Monitor KPIs across departments to evaluate operational performance, identify risks, and implement corrective actions.
  • Champion the adoption of process automation, analytics, and performance dashboards to support data-driven decision-making.

Technology and Infrastructure Management:

  • Oversee the planning, deployment, and maintenance of the Group’s digital infrastructure and identity management platforms.
  • Ensure operational resilience, security, and scalability across all technology systems and platforms.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to maintain strong cybersecurity, compliance, and service availability standards.
  • Guide the implementation of innovative digital solutions that support national and enterprise-level transformation initiatives.

Program and Project Management:

  • Provide executive oversight on major technology programs and government-led digital identity projects.
  • Establish and enforce project governance structures to ensure accountability, quality, and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Review project progress reports, budgets, and timelines to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Serve as an escalation point for resolving operational or delivery challenges across multiple projects.

Financial and Resource Management:

  • Collaborate with the CFO to optimize operational budgets and ensure cost-effective resource utilization.
  • Oversee procurement, vendor management, and service-level agreements (SLAs) to maintain operational integrity and value for money.
  • Develop performance benchmarks to track financial and operational efficiency.

Stakeholder and Partner Engagement:

  • Build and maintain relationships with strategic partners, vendors, and government stakeholders involved in digital transformation projects.
  • Represent the organization in high-level meetings, negotiations, and strategic forums.
  • Support business development efforts by providing operational insights and ensuring readiness for project delivery.

Leadership and People Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of operational and technical professionals to achieve high performance and collaboration.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement across all departments.
  • Support HR in implementing performance management, training, and leadership development programs that strengthen the company’s operational capability.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Master’s Degree (MBA or MSc in Management, Technology, or Operations) is highly desirable.
  • 12 – 15 years of progressive experience in operations or program management within a technology, digital services, or infrastructure organization.
  • Proven track record in managing large-scale technology deployments, government contracts, or digital transformation programs.
  • Strong understanding of digital identity systems, enterprise infrastructure, and software delivery lifecycle management.
  • Excellent grasp of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, PRINCE2, PMP-certified preferred).
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing operations across multiple business units.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead strategic initiatives, manage complex operations, and deliver measurable results.

  • Barnksforte Group offers an attractive and competitive executive remuneration package (N32,000,000 – N40,000,000 / Annum.), commensurate with experience and qualifications.
