Job Description
- The role of a Chinese translator involves facilitating communication between Chinese and other languages, typically English, though it can involve other languages as well.
- This can encompass both written and spoken forms of communication
Responsibilities
- Accurately translate documents, including: Business contracts and legal documents.
- Technical manuals and specifications.
- Marketing and advertising materials.
- Website content and localization.
- Academic papers and research.
- Ensure translated materials maintain the original meaning, tone, and context.
- Proofread and edit translations for accuracy and clarity.
- Provide accurate and real-time interpretation during:
- Business meetings and negotiations.
- Conferences and seminars.
- Legal proceedings and court hearings.
- Medical consultations.
- Offer simultaneous or consecutive interpretation, depending on the situation.
- Bridge cultural gaps and ensure culturally sensitive communication.
- Provide insights into Chinese cultural nuances and customs.
- Adapt translations to suit the target audience’s cultural background.
- Research and maintain accurate terminology databases.
- Develop and update glossaries for specific industries or clients.
- Communicate with clients to understand their needs and requirements.
- Provide clear and timely updates on translation projects.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
Requirements
- Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and the target language.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent understanding of cultural differences.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools.
Salary
N500,000 – N1,000,000 / month.
