Job Summary:
  • The Data Protection Analyst will be responsible for ensuring the company’s compliance with data privacy regulations and best practices. This involves a wide range of activities, from developing and implementing data protection policies and procedures to conducting risk assessments and audits.
  • The Analyst will also play a key role in responding to data subject requests, and managing data breaches.
  • Also, act as a liaison between various departments, legal counsel, and regulatory bodies, ensuring consistent application of data protection measures across the organization.
  • Furthermore, the Data Protection Analyst will stay abreast of evolving data privacy laws and regulations, proactively updating policies and procedures to maintain compliance.

Responsibilities:
  • A core responsibility of the Data Protection Analyst is to identify and mitigate data privacy risks.
  • This includes conducting data mapping exercises to understand where sensitive data resides, performing privacy impact assessments for new projects or systems, and developing data protection impact assessments for high-risk processing activities.
  • You will also be responsible for implementing technical and organizational measures to protect personal data, such as access controls, encryption, and data anonymization techniques.
  • The Analyst will also be involved in incident response planning, ensuring that the organization can effectively manage and report data breaches in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • You will also monitor data processing activities to ensure ongoing compliance and identify areas for improvement.

Education, Skills & Experience Requirements:
  • Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, Law, or a related field is typically required. A Master’s degree in Cybersecurity or Data Privacy is a plus.
  • Certifications: Professional certifications such as Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) are highly desirable.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of data privacy laws and regulations, data encryption techniques, and cybersecurity frameworks. Proficiency in data protection tools, risk assessment methodologies, and incident response. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential for this role.
  • Experience: At least 2-5 years of experience in data protection, cybersecurity, or compliance-related roles. Experience working with IT security teams and regulatory compliance frameworks is an added advantage.
