Job Overview

  • The Deputy Director General (DDG) will support the Director General in leading the strategic development, operational management, and organizational growth of Premier Agribusiness Academy.
  • The DDG will provide leadership in implementing policies, overseeing program execution, and ensuring the institution’s goals of advancing agribusiness education and research are met.
  • This role involves fostering collaborations, securing partnerships, and driving innovation within the agricultural sector, focusing on training programs for both the public and private sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Assist the Director General in formulating and executing strategic plans to meet the academy’s objectives.
  • Lead the development and implementation of innovative training programs, research initiatives, and agribusiness solutions.
  • Drive expansion of the academy’s influence within the agribusiness sector across Nigeria and the wider region.

Operational Management:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and achievement of performance targets.
  • Guidance on curriculum development, faculty recruitment, and student admissions.
  • Implement efficient resource management strategies to enhance operational sustainability.

Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships:

  • Foster relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, industry leaders, and international organizations.
  • Represent the academy in external meetings, forums, and events to build partnerships and promote its vision.

Financial Oversight:

  • Assist in managing the academy’s budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources for programs and projects.
  • Lead fundraising initiatives and efforts to secure grants and donations to support academy programs.

Human Capital Development:

  • Lead and mentor senior staff and faculty to ensure a high-performance culture within the academy.
  • Drive staff development and capacity-building initiatives to enhance institutional excellence.

Monitoring & Evaluation:

  • Monitor the performance of academic and training programs to ensure quality and impact.
  • Implement performance management frameworks to track progress towards institutional goals.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Master’s Degree or higher in Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in senior leadership roles, preferably in education, agribusiness, or related sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of the agribusiness landscape in Nigeria and globally.
  • Proven track record of driving organizational growth and leading high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong financial management and budgeting capabilities.
  • Visionary leadership with an entrepreneurial mindset.
