Responsibilities

  • Provide full coverage of the energy and power sector, including breaking news, in-depth analysis, feature stories, and investigative reports.
  • Attend and represent Nairametrics at industry events, regulatory briefings, press conferences, and stakeholder meetings across the energy sector.
  • Conduct interviews with executives, policymakers, regulators, and technical experts, producing strong feature stories.
  • Perform continuous research, benchmarking, and comparative analysis of energy companies, projects, tariffs, policies, and market trends to create rankings, explainers market review stories.
  • Build and maintain a strong network of contacts across oil & gas, power, renewables, downstream, upstream, regulators, and energy-related institutions.
  • Produce standard and bespoke reports summarizing sector data, regulatory updates, market intelligence, and economic trends for executives and relevant stakeholders.
  • Serve as Nairametrics’ eyes and ears across the entire energy beat, delivering timely, accurate, and deeply contextual stories.

Basic Requirements

  • Experience working in a fast-paced media organization or a related industry is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 3 years proven experience covering or working within the Energy, Oil & Gas, Power, Renewables, or related sectors.
  • Strong writing ability with excellent analytical and explanatory skills, especially in breaking down technical or regulatory concepts into clear, reader-friendly content.
  • Demonstrated track record of high-quality reporting or analysis for reputable organizations within the energy or financial/market-analysis ecosystem.
  • Prior writing or reporting experience in digital or print media is an added advantage.
