Job Description

  • We seek an experienced General Manager with a strong background in accounting and human resource management to lead our operations and drive organizational growth.

Job Summary

  • The General Manager will oversee the daily operations of Solar Depot Nigeria, ensuring effective financial management, administrative efficiency, and strategic leadership.
  • This role requires a professional with proven business acumen, a strong grasp of Nigerian regulatory and financial frameworks, and a track record in managing people and performance.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Strategy:

  • Oversee day-to-day business operations including project execution, logistics, sales, and customer service
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to drive business growth and market expansion
  • Ensure solar product and service delivery aligns with quality standards and client expectations
  • Collaborate with the technical and commercial teams to ensure seamless service delivery
  • Manage key vendor, client, and partner relationships

Financial & Accounting Oversight:

  • Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reports
  • Supervise accounting functions including invoicing, vendor payments, and payroll
  • Ensure compliance with all financial and tax regulations (FIRS, VAT, PAYE, etc.)
  • Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, and financial institutions
  • Provide monthly financial and operational performance reports to the CEO

Human Resource Management:

  • Lead the recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluation process
  • Maintain and enforce HR policies in line with Nigerian labor law and company culture
  • Administer compensation, benefits, leave, and disciplinary procedures
  • Foster a high-performance and values-driven work environment
  • Ensure timely compliance with HR-related statutory obligations (PENCOM, ITF, NHF, NSITF)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, HR Management, or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in business operations, including at least 3 years in a leadership role within the solar or energy sector
  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian accounting principles, HR best practices, and regulatory frameworks
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage,) CRM and HR systems
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Preferred Certifications:

  • ICAN, ACCA, or other relevant professional accounting certifications
  • HR certification from CIPM or related body
  • Experience with solar industry operations, renewable energy policy, or energy access programs
