Job Title: Group Chief Operating Officer (GCOO)

Summary:
  • As we expand our reach and impact, we seek a visionary, strategic, and execution-driven Group Chief Operating Officer (GCOO) to lead our Shared Services and Organisational Effectiveness strategy.
  • This role demands a seasoned leader who thrives in complex, multi-entity environments and has a proven track record of architecting high-performing systems, driving large-scale operational transformation, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • The GCOO will shape the future of the Group’s operations, driving strategic efficiencies across HR, Administration, Facility Management, Corporate Communications, Procurement, and Organisational Effectiveness.

The Visionary Leader We Seek:

  • We are not looking for a conventional operations leader. We need a bold, forward-thinking strategist with a deep understanding of how operational excellence fuels organisational impact and who will lead our efforts to pursue competitive advantage through operations.

The ideal candidate will:
  • Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive operational strategy aligned with the Group’s overall vision and the specific needs of each operational entity.
  • Architect and embed a world-class Shared Services model that enhances efficiency, optimises costs, and scales operational effectiveness across the Group’s multi-entity structure.
  • Lead enterprise-wide digital transformation, leveraging technology to automate, optimise, and future-proof the Group’s corporate services and administrative functions.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team of operations professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Redesign operational governance, SOPs, and performance metrics, creating a seamless, data-driven operational backbone that supports the Group’s ambitious growth trajectory.
  • Influence and engage at the highest levels, working with government bodies, private sector partners, and global health stakeholders to position the Group as a model for operational excellence in public health.
  • Drive an agile, high-performance culture, balancing innovation with execution, and ensuring every function under the GCOO’s leadership is future-ready and impact-driven.
  • Manage risk and ensure compliance with all relevant safety and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and implement performance metrics to track operational success and identify areas for improvement.

Person Specification:

Education & Professional Credentials:

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA), Public Administration, Organisational Development, Strategic Management, or a related field.
  • A PhD is an added advantage for candidates with a background in public health systems or healthcare management.
  • Professional certifications in Management (NIM, NIPM), Project Management (PMP), Procurement (CIPS), Facility Management, or Organisational Development are a strong advantage.

Experience & Track Record:

  • Minimum of 15 years of executive leadership experience in large-scale, multi-entity organisations, ideally within the banking, FMCG, healthcare, international development, or social impact sectors.
  • Proven success in building and leading Shared Services at scale, driving efficiency across HR, Procurement, Corporate Services, and Facilities within a complex group structure.
  • Extensive experience in developing and executing SOPs, operational KPIs, and governance structures to elevate enterprise-wide performance.
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading large-scale digital and organisational transformation initiatives, ensuring operational resilience and future-readiness.
  • Strong experience in global stakeholder engagement, with the ability to interface with government, international donors, private sector partners, and regulatory bodies.
  • A data-driven decision-maker with a deep understanding of how operational strategy fuels impact, efficiency, and financial sustainability.

  • Strategic architect, capable of designing and executing multi-year operational roadmaps that balance innovation with execution.

  • Agile and decisive problem-solver, with the ability to manage complexity and drive operational excellence under dynamic conditions.
