Job Summary

  • The HSE Officer supports in the implementation of the company’s HSE strategies within the factory and other UFL operations by ensuring full compliance with HSE standards among staff, contractors, and visitors; carrying out routine inspections, audits, and safety drills; assisting in incident investigations and risk assessments; and facilitating HSE trainings to strengthen the overall safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collate and maintain all relevant Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) data and reports periodically.
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of regulatory reports to relevant authorities.
  • Track and report HSE performance metrics to support continuous improvement.
  • Drive strict adherence to HSE policies, procedures, and legal requirements across the factory.
  • Facilitates and coordinates regulatory compliance visits, acting as the primary interface during inspections and audit.
  • Document key observations from the regulatory visit.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to implement corrective actions and drive compliance with regulatory recommendations.
  • Implementing periodic awareness and engagement programs for employees to enhance knowledge and understanding of HSE laws and regulations, company HSE procedures, hazardous condition monitoring, use of safety equipment and responsibilities within areas of operational responsibility.
  • Responsible for conducting drills to enhance fire safety and emergency preparedness among Employees.
  • Coordinate with waste vendors to ensure timely waste evacuation in accordance with the scheduled plan.
  • Drive implementation of environmental sustainability programs to reduce waste, improve hygiene and minimize environmental impact.
  • Ensure the ETP operates in compliance with local environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain and submit periodic reports on effluent discharge quality, ensuring adherence to regulatory limits.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the ETP to assess performance and identify potential issues.
  • Monitor key treatment parameters and notify the HSE Manager of any deviations from permissible discharge standards.
  • Report any abnormalities, system failures, or maintenance requirements to prevent environmental violations.
  • Monitor and ensure contractor adherence to HSE policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate safety briefings and conduct assessments for contractors and project team.
  • Conduct risk assessments, inspections, audits and enforce the implementation of appropriate control measures.
  • Execute and monitor the implementation of safety programs in alignment with business objectives to reduce workplace incident.

Requirements and skills

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • HND or Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline (Environmental Science, Engineering, Safety, etc.)
  • 2–3 years relevant experience in Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment
  • Additional experience in Fire Safety Management and Emergency Response is an added advantage
