1. Packaging Manager
Summary
- The key purpose of this role is to manage and co-ordinate the Packaging Department in order to achieve the required standard of product quality and output in the most efficient and effective manner.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Manage plant, process and systems:
- Translates and implements packaging, manufacturing and business strategies across the packaging hall.
- Ensure that all team members are fully conversant with the VPO.
- Develop and drive implementation plans to progress our VPO Principles / agreed VPO Pillar Blocks in order to sustain results.
- Ensures conformance to Plant and Packaging specifications and standards.
- Drives maintenance integrity to maximize equipment availability and reliability while ensuring engineering integrity and close partnership with Maintenance Manager.
- Optimises process capability.
- Leads packaging projects as required.
- Coordinates Packaging logistics, shift patterns and run strategies to maximize GLY, FTE productivity and overall supply reliability.
- Packaging Productivity.
- Proactively control fixed and variable costs.
- Minimise waste.
- Manage, measure and monitor packaging effectiveness through: Packaging efficiency, Trade quality, Raw material usage rate, Waste through beer loss
- IQMS parameters.
- Production costs per Hl to global benchmarks.
- Maintenance cost per Hl to global benchmarks.
- Responsible for the overall reliability of the packaging hall.
Team Leadership:
- Lead the packaging team in a manner that engenders ownership, empowerment and team interaction.
- Lead the development of packaging team goals and ensure these are communicated and understood by team members.
- Conduct regular Packaging team goal review sessions, and conduct regular one-on-one and performance reviews.
- Ensure training need analyses are conducted and training plans developed for team members.
- Ensure appropriate competencies are developed in the team, and ensure cross skilling occurs within the packaging team.
Safety and Housekeeping:
- Ensure that the packaging team apply proper safety and housekeeping procedures, and adhere to all legal requirements when carrying out their tasks
- Ensure implementation of the appropriate SAB and legislative policies (such as OSH act) on safety and housekeeping
- Ensure that safety and housekeeping receive the appropriate focus through regular checks and safety audits
- Where unsafe work practices have been identified, the packaging manager is responsible for correcting this
- Ensures adherence to PPE policy
- General production housekeeping
- Safe maintenance practices audited
- Ensure adherence to the VPO safety pillar in the packaging department with regular coaching and OWD’s done
- Ensures adherence to SHE system requirements
- Drive Safety and legal compliance in the Packaging Hall.

Minimum Requirements
- BSc Degree in Engineering or equivalent Engineering degree
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Packaging Management with deep expertise in asset management
- Experience of managing and running a high-speed packaging line would be highly advantageous
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing people
- Demonstrated experience in driving commercial decisions in a packaging hall (financial, operational, people)
- Demonstrated experience in leading VPO in a Brewery environment.
Key Attributes and Competencies:
- A superior performance track record indicating a disciplined work ethic with passion at maintaining quality
- Demonstrated understanding of relevant legislation, specifically health and safety and labour legislation
- Proven experience in managing Industrial Relations within the workforce
- Managing people ability as well as ability to drive performance
- Leadership ability (ability to lead the packaging hall)
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to develop and control budgets
- Ability to implement appropriate HR processes to manage, motivate and develop people
- Ability to manage complex projects of a significant amount

- High level of resilience and ability to operate in a high-pressure environment.

2. Process Control Technician
Summary
- The Key Purpose of this role is to perform optimization/modification of process control systems.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Interacts daily with the production teams to resolve quality equipment related problems
- Assists in the implementation of plant and process improvement projects
- Standby duties be available for call out when required
- Carries out specialised maintenance work in on quality equipment calibration and set up work, complex component replacement, etc
- Ensures availability of specified critical spares and recommendations on maintenance regimes
- Verification/validation of quality equipment operation
- Uses SAP, other systems and reports as appropriate to analyse information in order to identify deviations from process capability relating to quality equipment
- Sigga / SAP maintenance schedules management compliance
- Problem Terminator compliance (previously known as 5 WHY)
- Develop and maintain equipment performance report (ERI)
- Develop and maintain SOPs / SWI’s in Acadia
- Support in management of breakdown of equipment
- Instrument set up NPD support
- Supplier liaison (SPP)
- Supports development of training material and coaches operational teams to ensure optimal operation of quality equipment
- Provides specialist subject matter expertise and diagnostic skills in problem solving
- Provides expert information to assist in compilation of maintenance budgets (including spares stock holding)
- Continuously improves technical competence in order to ensure that latest thinking on operating and maintaining the quality equipment is applied
- Ensure a safe, healthy and risk free working environment
- Work in teams, support VPO initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
- Min N6 / National Diploma and Trade Test Qualification in Instrumentation and Control
- Minimum of 3 years instrumentation equipment maintenance and PLC experience advantageous
- Good knowledge of SAP and excel.

3. Packaging Team Leader
