Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead, Credit and Risk Management to oversee and enhance our credit risk framework, policies, and processes. This role is critical in ensuring a balanced risk-reward approach while driving business growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in credit risk, financial analysis, and regulatory compliance, preferably in the fintech or digital lending space.
Credit Risk Management
- Review and approve credit applications, ensuring adherence to established risk acceptance criteria (RAC).
- Analyze financial statements, credit scores, and other relevant data to assess the creditworthiness of applicants.
- Conduct second-level loan assessments, providing clear and concise recommendations for approvals or rejections.
- Develop and implement robust credit risk assessment models, credit scoring models and frameworks tailored to the fintech lending landscape.
- Define credit policies, underwriting guidelines, and risk limits to ensure a balanced portfolio.
- Continuously monitor portfolio performance, identifying key risk indicators and early warning signals.
- Optimize decision-making through data-driven insights and advanced analytics.
- Design and oversee stress testing of loan portfolios, ensuring resilience against economic shifts.
- Monitor non-performing loans (NPLs) and ensure adherence to acceptable thresholds as per credit policy and regulatory requirements.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes in credit risk management.
- Develop training programs to upskill team members in credit risk analysis and management.

Risk Strategy & Governance
- Establish and maintain risk management policies aligned with regulatory and industry best practices.
- Conduct stress testing, scenario analysis, and loss forecasting to assess potential risks.
- Collaborate with senior management and stakeholders to align risk strategies with business objectives.
- Ensure compliance with local and international regulatory requirements for credit and risk management.
Fraud Prevention & Mitigation
- Implement and oversee fraud detection and prevention measures using AI, machine learning, and other advanced technologies.
- Develop proactive fraud risk assessment strategies to minimize financial and reputational damage.
- Work closely with other teams within to investigate and analyze suspicious transactions and patterns.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with data science, technology, and product teams to enhance risk assessment models and digital lending solutions.
- Work with external regulators, auditors, and credit bureaus to ensure compliance and optimize credit risk frameworks.
- Train and mentor teams on risk best practices, regulatory requirements, and credit assessment techniques.
- Support the development and implementation of automated processes for efficient credit operations and collections.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory policies and internal credit guidelines.
- Oversee audits and regulatory examinations, providing necessary documentation and insights.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Business, or a related field.
- 7+ years in credit risk management, underwriting, or risk analytics, preferably in a fintech, digital lending, or banking environment.
- Proficiency in financial analysis, credit assessment & its tools, risk modeling, credit scoring, and statistical analysis.
- Experience with AI/ML-based risk assessment tools and alternative credit scoring models.
- Familiarity with credit bureau data upload, NCR & KYC/AML regulations, and digital lending frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance related to credit and risk management
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Hands-on experience with risk assessment tools, data analytics platforms, and credit decision engines.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, data-driven fintech environment.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to drive cross-functional collaboration.
