We are also the preferred company of choice when it comes to major corporate and government supply and application projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the review and initial drafting of simple legal agreements and correspondence.
- Conduct legal research and prepare summaries or briefs for review.
- Liaise with external solicitors to monitor the progress of court cases and report updates.
- Support the implementation and tracking of departmental standard operating procedures.
- Maintain the department’s contract register and follow up on execution and sealing of agreements.
- Maintain records of legal opinions, precedents, and case files.
- Support in organizing Board and Committee meetings.
- Maintain minute books and other statutory registers as directed.
- Assist in preparing and submitting statutory returns when required.
- Provide support during Annual General Meetings (AGM) and other corporate events.
- Monitor and manage correspondence directed to the department, ensuring prompt attention and follow-up.
- Maintain and update a structured filing and documentation system for the department.
- Assist in Managing shareholders’ complaints register and tracking resolution progress.
- Schedule departmental meetings, prepare reminders, and ensure proper coordination of departmental activities.
- Handle other related duties as may be assigned by the CSLA or ACSLA.
Basic Requirements
- LLB
- B.L (Called to the Nigerian Bar)
- Minimum of 3 years post-call experience at a Law firm or similar in-house legal officer position.
- Understanding of legal principles and ability to identify and resolve a variety of legal issues.
- Knowledge of corporate governance principles and practices.
- Familiarity with business and commercial contract preparation and review.
- Sound knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office tools and other relevant software applications.
- Good understanding of record management and filing systems.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Good drafting and basic negotiation skills.
- Experience in legal research and familiarity with relevant legal databases.
- Ability to take direction and work effectively under supervision.
- Capacity to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- High level of professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Effective time management and prioritisation skills.
