Role Overview:
- The successful candidates will provide high-quality music tuition to students of varying skill levels, and inspire students, nurture their musical development, and foster a love for instrumental playing within our school community.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and structured individual and/or small group lessons in strings, wind or brass.
- Assess students’ progress and provide constructive feedback to support their learning journey.
- Prepare students for performances, ABRSM and MUSON examinations, and other musical events as appropriate.
- Collaborate with the Music Department to support ensemble activities and school concerts.
- Encourage and motivate students to develop their technical skills and musical expression.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance.
- Communicate with parents regarding sessions and progress.
- Uphold the school’s values and commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
- Contribute to musical ensembles, Extra-Curricular Activities (ECAs) and special school events, upon agreement with Head of Music and Senior Leadership Team.
Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge:
- Degree in Music or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- At least Grade 8 ABRSM (or equivalent Trinity or MUSON) in relevant instrument
- Proven experience teaching relevant instruments to students of various ages and abilities.
- Familiarity with a range of teaching methodologies and examination boards (e.g., ABRSM, Trinity, MUSON).
- Experience in preparing students for performances and graded examinations.
- A recognized teaching qualification is desirable but not essential.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire and engage students with a passion for music.
- Adaptability to tailor lessons according to individual student needs.
- Patience and enthusiasm in a teaching environment.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
