About the Role
The Political / Economic Assistant will support the Political-Economic Section of the U.S. Consulate in Lagos.
This role involves monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on political, economic, environmental, and social developments across the 17 states within the Lagos Consular District.
Duties and Responsibilities

Monitor, research, and report on environmental and social issues in southern Nigeria.

Draft analytical reports and updates on political and economic developments.

Provide timely reporting and recommendations to support U.S. diplomatic objectives.

Support the Political-Economic Section with analysis and correspondence.

Requisite Qualifications and Experience
Education
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Economics, Business, Trade, Finance, or International Relations.
Experience
-
Minimum of 2 years’ prior professional work experience in research, analysis, and drafting reports (narrative and data-based).
Job Knowledge
-
Familiarity with U.S. Embassy operations.

Knowledge of the structure of the Government of Nigeria and its key actors.

Working knowledge of official government protocol.
Skills & Abilities
-
Strong analytical and drafting skills.
-
Ability to prepare letters, memoranda, and detailed reports with minimal supervision.
Salary

USD $48,225 per year.
