About Jaza Energy
Jaza is a solar energy start-up on a mission to power Sub-Saharan Africa. We build solar-powered shops that charge batteries for customers to use at home. In 2022, we achieved over 1.5 million battery swaps, bringing affordable and clean energy access to more than 186,000 people.
We work with women in each community (our Jaza Stars) to run these hubs, empowering them as leaders, entrepreneurs, and community builders. With successful pilot projects in Nigeria and rapid expansion ahead, we plan to grow to hundreds of hubs and hire 200+ people in the next 6 months.
