Job Description

  • The Senior Finance Associate plays a strategic role in managing Shuttlers’ financial operations, providing data-driven insights, and ensuring strong financial governance.
  • This position oversees financial reporting, compliance, payment processing, and tax management.
  • The role requires sound judgment, analytical thinking, and proactive financial planning to support decision-making and optimize Shuttlers’ financial performance.

Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting:

  • Support in the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of all financial transactions in line with internal policies and accounting standards.
  • Review the work of the Finance Associate to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with reporting timelines.
  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support management decisions.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audit processes.
  • Oversee month-end and year-end closing activities and ensure all reconciliations are completed.
  • Maintain strong internal control systems and recommend improvements for efficiency.

Accounts Payable & Receivable:

  • Review and approve vendor payment schedules prepared by the Finance Associate.
  • Ensure all payments are properly authorized and processed in line with approved budgets.
  • Oversee reconciliation of all payable and receivable accounts.
  • Liaise with vendors and clients to resolve financial discrepancies and ensure timely settlements.
  • Monitor receivables aging and escalate long-outstanding balances as needed.

Tax Management & Compliance:

  • Ensure full compliance with all statutory tax obligations (VAT, WHT, PAYE, CIT, etc.).
  • Prepare and file monthly and annual tax returns promptly.
  • Maintain up-to-date tax schedules and records and liaise with tax authorities when required.
  • Provide advisory support on tax planning, deductions, and compliance requirements.

Payments & Cash Management:

  • Plan, process, and oversee vendor and operational payments to ensure smooth cash flow management.
  • Fund operational and partner wallets, ensuring proper documentation and approval.
  • Review and approve bank and cash reconciliations monthly.
  • Monitor daily bank and cash positions and advise management on liquidity needs.
  • Supervise & prepare expense tracker, variance analysis and ensure adherence to internal control procedures.

Financial Planning & Advisory:

  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities by providing accurate financial inputs.
  • Advise management on financial decisions, process improvements, and cost optimization.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align financial goals with business objectives.

Leadership & Supervision:

  • Supervise, guide, and review the work of the Finance Associate to ensure high performance and accuracy.
  • Provide mentorship and technical support to junior finance team members.
  • Promote adherence to Shuttlers’ finance policies, ethical standards, and internal controls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. A relevant professional certification (e.g., ACA, ACCA) is a significant advantage.
  • 3-5+ years of progressive experience in Finance, with demonstrated experience in a strategic or supervisory capacity.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial reporting standards and strong internal control systems to ensure financial governance.
  • Expertise in statutory tax obligations (VAT, WHT, PAYE, CIT) and the ability to provide advisory support on tax planning.
  • Proven ability for analytical thinking and sound judgment to provide data-driven insights and support management decisions.
  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Strong leadership, mentorship, and review skills to supervise and guide junior finance team members.

Salary
N400,000 / Month.
